I'm asking friends and family (of which I include all of you) to keep our grandson Tyler in your thoughts and prayers.
Tyler has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of childrens cancer called Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. He will be just 7 in May.
He is entering the hospital today to have some up to date imaging and will begin his first round of Chemotherapy on Wednesday.
The mass is located in his neck just behind an ear and has caused some facial paralysis as well. This will be dealt with at a later time. Needless to say we have all been devastated and have been living in a fog. This looks to be a very long and difficult battle for Tyler, not to mention his parents (our son) who have been running on empty since the diagnosis. I don't know how they do it. Unfortunately this journey has just begun.
With the help of your prayers and the prayers of many others around the world, along with the team of doctors we have been blessed to find at the University of Chicago, I have faith that Tyler can beat this demon and get back to the normal life of school (which he loves), sports, scouts, his friends and just being a 7 year old kid without a care in the world. It hurts me so much.
Tyler has a twin sister who is feeling very confused at this point as well. So, if you would all be so kind as to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we take this road with Tyler it would be very comforting......
Thanks, Kev
