After one listen, I really like the new Escoveda and Beach Boys album. I expected it from Alejandro, but the Beach Boys record is such a pleasant surprise. Might be the best thing they did since the great Holland.

Americana/Neil Young

Sorry Neil, One listen and it's a 12 dollar ash tray. Hope the next one with Crazy Horse due later this year is better. Wouldn't take much. It wasn't the material. The songs are great. Neil just slept walked thru this baby.

Jim,

I've only listened to it once so I'm not quite sure yet.

It sounded good to me- a bit mellow with not a lot of kick to it. There is one tune that she does as a duet with James Taylor that is very good.

I'd have to give it a tentative thumbs up - I think it will only sound better on more listens.

Just finished listening to the new Beach boys cd and now Shawn Colvin's new one is spinning away. She's got some great musicians playing on it including Buddy miller who produced it and hand picked the rest of the band for her. Definitely a thumbs up on these last two.

Jim,

I've given it a few more spins- in fact it's playing right now- and I give it an emphatic thumbs up.

Another good one from MC Carpenter. Wish I had gotten to see her and Shawn Colvin a few weeks back. Got to listen to Shawn live on WXPN's Live At Noon last Friday and tomorrow M C Carpenter will be playing so at least I'll get a bit of a taste.
