Maybe they should just tour as "The Band Formerly Known As The J. Geils Band".

This isn't complicated. Someone owns the legal rights to the name. Groups tour as the 4 tops, temptations, etc. No original members.

Only one member of POCO has had the right to tour as POCO for years. Richie and Paul with three-four other players can sound as much like POCO (or perhaps more) than Rusty with GeorgeL, Michael and Jack. But, they can't call themselves POCO.

This isn't going to happen, but, if Richie toured with Paul or Jimmy and TBS plus pedal steel guitar player and a drummer, what would that be? POCO to me, but, not legally.

Rusty = DBA POCO.

Bocanut, I don't think its all that simple. If NOT incorporated, its owned by the person's namesake. If incorporated, it is its own singular entity and the namesake can be fired by the corporation. However, if the name was purchased by someone else and legally registered ,its theirs. I'm sure lawyers could argue otherwise, but regardless, not simple.

I'm not sure how Rusty acquired Poco, but I'm pretty sure Paul is still scratching his head wondering how the heck did that happen?!!! Meanwhile, its Rusty's baby and he's been nurturing it with tender loving hands.

Shame Rusty AND Paul aren't co-owners of the Poco name.
