Poco in the Studio

Mary and I are packing our bags again. Two shows in PA with Firefall and PPL. It seems like we just got back from Clearwater. I’ll never forget as Jack, George and I were leaving the Clearwater Street Fair we looked back to see Mr. Webb standing proudly, (but not too steadily), on the bow of a pirate ship inexplicably parked next to the stage. He was wearing a black three sided pirate hat he’d commandeered from somewhere, (most likely another less sober pirate), shouting ‘Ahrrrr’ and playing his accordion to the crowd passing below. Very disturbing! Ahrrrr, to be young again…
Well, I’m happy to announce that the Nashville recording sessions are going to be on June 24, 25 and 26. The response has been awesome. There are only a very few seats left.
The company that runs the show is called MPI and it's the brainchild of Steve Fishell, a longtime friend and fellow steel player. We'll be in a state-of-the-art studio called The Sound Emporium. Everyone will be spread out through the different rooms in the recording studio, so it’ll be as close to the recording experience as you can get. We’ll be ‘tracking’ songs so you’ll see every part of the ‘creative process’…and the drum part too.
On the 26th we’ve asked George Grantham to come by and play a little percussion or maybe add a vocal. And we’re going to have a great ‘New Orleans’ style horn section play on the outro of ‘A Little Rain’! It’s going to be cool!
Mary’s putting together ‘gift bags’ with special session T-shirts along with other goodies, and lunches will be catered at the studio, (management has the number for Chucky Cheese).
But, as I said, there are only a few spots left, so if you’ve got some vacation time saved up; you’d better jump on it.
It’s a beautiful day here in MO. and as hard as it is to do, I guess I’d better start changing guitar strings and packing my socks instead of gazing out the window. We have to leave pretty early tomorrow morning to get Zog to the kennel and Mary to the airport on time. See you guys soon… oh, are there pirates in PA?
