ALL FIRED UP -POCO in the Studio

Hello again. We just got back from playing in Indiana with America. Although we played a pretty short set, it was nice having the chance to hang with Dewey and Gerry. They sounded as good as ever. Speaking of sounding good, Mary and I got to see the Buffalo Springfield show in L.A. on the 4th. Richie made us all proud. I think he’s singing better now than when the Springfield toured back in the sixties. Everyone looked like they were having a great time and the audience was a hoot-row after row of sixty year old men (and women), reliving their youth, (that includes me).
We’re packing for our Nashville recording sessions next weekend. I think it’s going to be an unforgettable experience for the Poconuts who signed up to join us in the studio. We’re going to record the album’s title track called ‘All Fired Up’. It’s a song that reminds me of the good old Poco tunes like ‘Hoedown’ and ‘Pickin’ Up The Pieces’. We’re going to have everyone bring something they can beat on, (husbands excluded). Something like a box and a wooden spoon or a tin can and a stick, anything that makes noise. We’re going to kick the song off in a really fun way and George Grantham is going to be there to get everyone playing in time. We’ll do all the overdubs and finish the track this weekend so everyone will get the chance to play on a Poco song and observe the recording process from beginning to end. We’re also filming the first day and it will be available to download at a later time. That way everyone will get a chance to see if Poconuts can keep the beat when the pressure is on!
It’s going to be a wild weekend. We’ll let you know how it all turns out.
