Reflections of August

I can’t believe August is gone…can time possibly move any faster? But it’s September now and it’s starting to feel like Fall around here. Yesterday, because of hurricane Earl, our flights into Norfolk were canceled and though we tried mightily, we couldn’t get to the Virginia Beach concert. All day long Mary and I had the strangest feeling of disconnect. It was like our bodies weren’t where they were supposed to be and there was nothing we could do about it. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am that we couldn’t make the concert.
Although I’m hesitant, I feel like I should make my feelings known about the current Poco website debate. I’ve always envisioned our website as a place where fans and band members, both old and new, could communicate with one another and a place where you could go to find out what’s happening with everyone. If the Poco website is the only place you can find out about someone’s tour dates, I’m glad we can help out and I hope people write nothing but awesome reviews about the shows they’ve seen.
I’m not one who would ever censor anyone’s opinion, no matter how misguided it may be. But it IS hurtful when someone singles me out for criticism. It amazes me that people feel compelled to go on the website and rant about things they know nothing about, but I guess that’s life (as Mary said). I have developed pretty thick skin. And, as scary as it is, I have to say George L. pretty much nails it with his insight on the situation. Once again, you can count on him telling it like it is and not pulling any punches.
September is going to be beautiful here on the river and Mary and I intend to take advantage of the time we have here. I’m sure we’ll be spending our time doing more kayaking, fishing, book writing and sitting around the fireplace. Wow! I know what you’re thinking…whatever happened to sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll? Hmmmm.
Well, I’d say ‘Wish you were here’, but then I’d be lying. Hope we do see you at Wildwood. I’ll leave a few Bass in the river…
