Pickin' & a Grinnin'

It’s been a sad few weeks around the cabin. In the early morning hours on Thursday October 24th the Davisville ‘Pucky Huddle’ General Store caught fire and burned to the ground. Pucky Huddle had been nestled down in the hollow between the old Davisville school house and the Woodlock Resort since the turn of the century. Mary mailed all the Poconut merchandise from the Pucky Huddle post office and we miss those afternoon runs down to send our packages off and sitting on the Liar’s Bench with the locals. And then there was the sign that hung in the store with the words…
“If We Ain’t Got It,
You Don’t Need It”
That was true so many times.
Well on a happier note, we had an awesome Wildwood Lodge weekend. I swear it was the best one yet. All our friends were there and the band rocked. I’m gonna’ miss that. Then on Sunday we had the ‘Poco, Pickin’ and Grinnin’ Picnic’ at Peaceful Bend Winery! Thanks to Chuck and Jane for donating the pig, (unfortunately not such a fun day to be a pig), Rob for the ‘Hogzilla’ roaster, Denny at Missouri Hick, Clyde and Katie at Peaceful Bend Winery, Jack and Madison for the cool video, Steve and Rebecca for the musical support, the faithful Poconuts and everyone who brought those amazing covered dishes. Check out the video on FB and the website.
Since Wildwood we played shows in Florida, Covington KY and Evansville Ill and then Mary and I drove to Nashville to see the kids for an early Thanksgiving. Who knew Mary was such a good cook! While we were there Jack and I recorded a theme song for a new Scholastic project. Next weekend we have a show in Phoenix with Firefall and Ambrosia (what?) and then get a break for the Holidays.
Can’t wait to get going on the book again…soon
Rusty
