FEBRUARY 2013
Wow!!! It’s crazy around here, we just got back from Nashville two days ago, haven’t had a chance to unpack yet, and tomorrow we catch a flight to N.C. We’ve got a sold out show with P.P.L. in Greensboro at the Carolina Theater. Mary’s been working late into the night getting the ‘All Fired Up’ CDs and packages mailed out and hasn’t had even a moment to catch her breath.
Nashville was a lot of fun! On Tuesday and Wednesday we rented SIR and rehearsed every song from the new CD. That was a lot to go over in two days, but we got it down.
On Thursday it was ‘Love is Deaf’ night at the Douglas Corner Bar. Michael & Anna, Jack & Sue and Supe & Julie and Mary & I joined a bunch of other Nashville couples to sing Valentine’s Day songs. A bunch of Poconuts were in the audience and it was so much fun. The worse somebody sang the more entertaining it was. Mary and I sang a song we wrote for the occasion and Mary played piano on ipad. It was a scream! We want to do it again next Valentine’s Day.
On Friday we got a tour of the new house my daughter Sara and her fiancé Tyler just bought, then we checked out the Coach House at the Bell Meade Mansion where Sara’s wedding reception will be held next March. It’s going to be beautiful!
On Saturday, before sound check, Mary and I got to spend the afternoon with Will, his girlfriend Leslie and my new grandson Chandler. He looks so much like my Dad that it kills me…same exact eyes as Dad.
The show at the Franklin Theater couldn’t have gone better. We played a first set of Poco classics - Call It Love, Rose of Cimarron, Crazy Love, Heart of the Night, Pickin’ Up The Pieces, Keep On Tryin’, and Good Feelin’ To Know. Then, after a brief intermission, we played every song from the ‘All Fired Up’ CD to a packed house that was hearing the new songs for the very first time! I couldn’t wait for them to hear what we’d done. It was electric and a night I’ll always remember. I can’t tell you how excited I am about our new music.
Well, time to get packing. There’s a big snow and sleet storm predicted for tomorrow, so getting to the airport should be interesting. Oh, how I love showbiz! At least I’ll have a chance to pick on the guys in P.P.L.
